Frequently Asked Questions

Primal 500 is a private members club for premium grass-fed & finished beef, limited to exactly 500 families. Membership is a custom Auto Ship box: you choose the box size, pick every cut, and set your delivery schedule, with member pricing and benefits built in. We provide curated access to heritage breed beef from partner ranches we know by name, with Coach Chris as your personal concierge who learns your family's preferences. One-time shopping is available separately.

We're a private club with a hard cap at 500 members, and we don't send random boxes. You pick every cut in your Auto Ship box, choose a schedule of every week, every two weeks, or every four weeks, and can skip or move a delivery from your account. You get a personal concierge (Coach Chris) who knows your palate, numbered seat membership, member pricing already built into your box, free jerky with every Auto Ship box, and complete transparency about every ranch.

Our 500-member limit isn't artificial scarcity. It's quality control. We work with small ranches that practice regenerative agriculture. Their supply is naturally limited. By capping membership, we ensure every family gets access to the best cuts, Coach Chris can provide truly personalized service, and our ranching partners aren't pressured to scale beyond their practices.

Build your Auto Ship box. Choose a box size, pick your cuts, select a delivery schedule, and check out. Your seat number and membership begin with your first box and stay active for as long as your Auto Ship does. There is no application to fill out. If we're at capacity, you'll be notified when a seat opens. If you'd rather not join, the open shop lets you buy individual products as a one-time order.

Your seat number is your permanent position in Primal 500. Seat #47 is yours. It represents your place at the table, your priority for rare cuts, and your membership identity. Lower numbers indicate earlier members. The seat number travels with you throughout your membership.

Not while seats are open. Start an Auto Ship box and your seat is yours from your first order. Membership is capped at 500 families, so when every seat is taken you'll be notified when one opens. If you cancel Auto Ship, your seat is released to the next family, so keeping it active is what keeps your place.

There is no annual membership fee. You only pay for the products you order. Our model is built on the belief that quality speaks for itself. We don't need to lock you in with fees. Members stay because the experience is exceptional, not because of a contract.

Yes, you can cancel Auto Ship anytime from your account, and canceling ends your membership and its benefits. We believe you should stay because you want to, not because you have to. When you cancel, your seat opens for the next family. If you just need a break, skip your next delivery or move its date instead of canceling. Questions? Coach Chris and our team are here to help.

We source exclusively from American ranches practicing regenerative agriculture. Every ranch is personally vetted. We know the ranchers by name, visit regularly, and can trace every cut to its exact source. No feedlots. No antibiotics. No hormones. No compromises.

Grass-fed, grass-finished means the cattle eat grass their entire lives, from birth to harvest. Many "grass-fed" labels allow grain finishing in feedlots for the final months. Our cattle never see a feedlot. This produces beef with higher omega-3s, more vitamins, and the flavor profile that comes from cattle living as nature intended.

We offer the full range of premium cuts: ribeyes, New York strips, filet mignon, heritage breed specialties, and limited releases like Japanese A5 wagyu. Coach Chris can recommend cuts based on your preferences, cooking style, and what's exceptional this week.

Yes. We offer both American wagyu from heritage Akaushi cattle and authentic Japanese A5 wagyu when available. Our American wagyu comes from ranches we've worked with for years. Japanese A5 is limited and allocated by seat priority. Coach Chris will notify you when it's available.

Beyond beef, we offer heritage Berkshire pork (Kurobuta) from pasture-raised farms. These heritage breeds deliver flavor and marbling that mass-produced pork simply can't match. Let Coach Chris know if you'd like to explore beyond beef.

Coach Chris is your personal concierge, part meat sommelier, part family nutrition advisor. He learns your family's preferences, remembers what you've loved, knows what's coming in, and proactively recommends cuts you'll enjoy. He's available 24/7 through our chat interface.

Coach Chris learns from every interaction. He tracks your order history, notes your feedback, understands your cooking style, and remembers your family's preferences. Over time, his recommendations become increasingly tailored. He might say, "Your kids loved the ribeye last month. We have similar marbling in this week's New York strips."

Absolutely. While Coach Chris enhances the experience, you can browse our full catalog independently. Many members enjoy both: exploring on their own and getting Coach Chris's recommendations when they want guidance or are looking for something special.

Your Auto Ship box renews on the schedule you chose, and you can skip the next delivery or change its date from your account. Between boxes, browse independently or chat with Coach Chris for recommendations, and use the open shop for one-time orders. Orders are packed fresh and shipped directly to your door.

Every order is vacuum-sealed, flash-frozen at peak freshness, and shipped via FedEx in insulated packaging with gel packs. Orders placed before 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET Monday through Thursday usually ship the same day for estimated next-day arrival. Order today, grill tomorrow. Weekend orders usually ship the following Monday. Holidays, carrier closures and weather can change these dates. Any order of $250 or more ships free.

Your satisfaction is guaranteed. If any cut doesn't meet your expectations, contact Coach Chris. We'll make it right, whether that's a replacement, credit, or refund. We stand behind every cut because we know exactly where it came from and how it was raised.

We don't run sales or promo codes. When something is worth it, you don't discount it. Member pricing is different: your Auto Ship box already includes the member per-item saving, no code needed, and active members see Wholesale Wednesday offers on selected overstock. Our pricing reflects the true cost of ethically raised, heritage breed beef from small ranches practicing regenerative agriculture. We have standards, not sales.

Grocery store beef comes from industrial feedlots optimized for volume, not quality. Our beef comes from small ranches where cattle graze on open pastures their entire lives. The ranchers we work with can't compete on price. They compete on quality, animal welfare, and environmental stewardship. You're paying for what matters.

Founding members (Seats #1-8) and Ambassador members (Seats #9-50) receive tiered benefits based on their early support. All members receive the same exceptional products and access to Coach Chris. The primary difference is in early access to rare cuts and limited releases.

Grass-fed & finished beef offers several nutritional advantages: higher omega-3 fatty acids, more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), higher levels of vitamins A and E, and no exposure to antibiotics or added hormones. For families prioritizing nutrition, the source of your protein matters.

Beef is an excellent source of iron, B12, zinc, and complete protein, all essential for growing children. Our grass-fed & finished beef provides these nutrients without the concerns of antibiotics or hormones found in conventional beef. Many of our members join specifically because they want to know exactly what they're feeding their families.

Yes. Our grass-fed & finished beef is ideal for protein-forward diets like carnivore and keto. The quality of your protein matters for these approaches. You want nutrient-dense, cleanly sourced meat. Coach Chris can help you select cuts that align with your nutritional goals.
