Why We Started Primal500 - Ranch-to-Table Meat Delivery
Spencer started this because he couldn't find beef jerky he actually trusted. Ten years and one COVID supply-chain scare later, here's Harry's real, unpolished version of how Primal500 came to be.

Why We Started Primal500
Hey, I'm Harry. My son Spencer started this company back in 2016. I came in as his partner not long after, and I'm the one writing this because I want it to actually be worth your time when you open it.
Why did Primal500 start?
Spencer started Primal500 in 2016 after we both went low-carb, high-protein and struggled to find a beef jerky source we trusted. He was buying so much of it that starting the company himself made more sense than keep searching.
Honestly, it took a while to admit that's what was happening. We just kept buying more and more jerky, driving further to find a decent batch, until one day it was obviously dumb not to just make the stuff ourselves.
How did a beef jerky company end up delivering full meat boxes?
In 2022, after COVID exposed real gaps in the grocery supply chain, Spencer decided to move beyond snacks entirely. Primal500 shifted into beef, pork, and chicken, sourced from artisanal farmers and regenerative ranchers.
Grocery stores weren't just short on the good stuff for a while there. Some weeks they didn't have protein at all. Once that happens to you, you stop trusting the shelf.
Why did we cap it at 500 families?
Primal500 deliberately limits itself to 500 families so we can personally vet every rancher, control our own supply chain, and watch our inventory instead of guessing at it.
We're not trying to be a giant ranch-to-table producer. 500 is where we figured we could still know every single rancher by name and keep our promises to them and to you.
How fast is delivery, actually?
Order by 10 AM PT (1 PM ET), Monday through Thursday, and it ships that day for delivery the next morning. Orders placed Friday through Sunday ship the following Monday and arrive Tuesday.
It's hard enough for most ranch-to-table providers to get you anything in three, four, five days. We get it there in one. We're proud of that. We just also don't want you ordering on a Saturday expecting a Sunday steak, so there's the real cutoff.
Why is it so hard to trust meat at a regular grocery store?
Most people are stuck in the same habit: same grocery store, same one-foot section of the meat aisle, hoping the label is telling the truth.
You know that feeling of standing there wondering if "grass-fed" means anything, or if someone just wordsmithed a label to make you feel better about a regular piece of beef? That's the exact feeling we built this to skip. We vet it so you don't have to stand there guessing.
Curious whether we ship to your state? That's all on our shipping page.
There's no polish to any of this, honestly. Just me telling you what's actually going on, whenever there's something worth telling you.
Glad you're here for it.
